BridgeChecker v1.3 Beta Available for Download
BridgeChecker is a windows utility that can automatically disable/enable wireless interfaces. Whenever your computer is connected to an Ethernet port and the link state is good, the utility can automatically turns off the IEEE 802.11 wireless network interface. This conserves IP address allocation, reduces security risks, resolves dual interface routing issues, and prolongs battery life.
Please read the BridgeChecker User Guide before installing and using BridgeChecker v1.3 beta.
BridgeChecker v1.3 has several new features that are summarized below.
BridgeChecker v1.3 Adds Location Awareness
BridgeChecker v1.2 has two modes, BridgeChecker Mode and OneNIC Mode. BridgeChecker v1.3 adds a Location Mode for enabling and disabling adapters based on the client location being “Work” or “Remote”.
To determine if the client’s location is work or remote the administrator can use a ping test, URL test, or gateway IP check. Based on the results of the test the adapters selected for Work or Remote location will be enabled and all other non whitelisted adapters will be disabled. The test will be rechecked every 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 minutes with 5 minutes being the default check interval.
Location Ping Check
Location URL Check
Location Gateway IP Check
BridgeChecker v1.3 Adds Service Startup Delay
v1.3 adds the ability to delay the start of the BridgeChecker service during the boot cycle. This feature is accessed via Manage Settings screen and can be set to 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 minutes. The default setting is zero minutes delay.
BridgeChecker Service In “Starting” Status During Delay Period
BridgeChecker Service In “Started” Status After Delay Period Ends
BridgeChecker v1.3 Adds Support for x64 Bit Operating Systems
BridgeChecker now supports x64 Windows Vista and Windows 7. If you previously experienced the error message below, BridgeChecker v1.3 solves this issue.
System.InvalidOperationException: The ‘Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0′ provider is not registered on the local machine.
at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbServicesWrapper.GetDataSource(OleDbConnectionString constr, DataSourceWrapper& datasrcWrapper)
at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnectionInternal..ctor(OleDbConnectionString constr, OleDbConnection connection)
The program runs in 32 bit mode and installs in the Program Files (x86) directory. Make sure to install by running setup.exe as administrator.

Just downloaded v1.3. Program runs fine on Windows 7 64bit now, but the service does not start. When I attempt to start the service manually it says the service started then stopped. Does not disable wireless connection on wired connect.
On my Dell Latitude e4300 bridge checker does not pickup the wifi card, its intel. Any work around for this?
Thanks,
Matt
Hi,
I am experiencing this error while trying to start service in all modes :
Service cannot be started. System.ArgumentException: ’0′ is not a valid value for ‘Interval’. ‘Interval’ must be greater than 0.
at System.Timers.Timer.set_Interval(Double value)
at BridgeCheckerservice.Service1.OnStart(String[] args)
at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.ServiceQueuedMainCallback(Object state)
Could You help ?
I guess it’s pure bug, just bad compilation of the app ?
Thanks
Petr
Hi There,
Have just installed your latest 1.3 Beta on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and have run into an issue..
The service is failing to start and is reporting the following error in the event viewer:
“Service cannot be started. System.ArgumentException: ’0′ is not a valid value for ‘Interval’. ‘Interval’ must be greater than 0.
at System.Timers.Timer.set_Interval(Double value)
at BridgeCheckerservice.Service1.OnStart(String[] args)
at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.ServiceQueuedMainCallback(Object state)”
If there’s anything else you’d like to know about my system or otherwise that might help you track down the cause, please let me know! :)
Regards,
Paul.
1.3 beta work fine on a Windows XP laptop, but I tried it on 2 Windows 7 x64 laptops and the service would not start on either. I tried starting both before and after changing the default settings. This error is in the Event Log:

Noticed an issue with either version of Bridgechecker. If you monitor the performance meter in task manager after installing either version is will spike every couple of seconds. Uninstalling Bridgechecker resolves this issue.
Any ideas why the Bridgechecker service does this?

I have tried this on Windows7 64bit, everything install right and no error like with 1.2 but my problem is the service will not start. states :
Service cannot be started. System.ArgumentException: ’0′ is not a valid value for ‘Interval’. ‘Interval’ must be greater than 0.
at System.Timers.Timer.set_Interval(Double value)
at BridgeCheckerservice.Service1.OnStart(String[] args)
at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.ServiceQueuedMainCallback(Object state)
at first thought it was the timer delay but anything I set still will not start the service.
Thanks
the service fails to start with error message in the log:

Running on Win 7 64 bit. First installed 1.2, then uninstalled it to install 1.3 beta. I can configure it, but can not seem to find an interval set to 0, to change it…

Hello,
We have tried this new beta client on a couple 64Bit Win7 machines and though the installation is successful and we can access interfaces of the app, the BridgerCheckerService will not start even manually and I have provided the event below. It is set to automatic by default.
I changed the computer name to XXX.

Installed 1.3 on Windows 7 64bit…does not work. Service will not start. When I attempt to start it manually, it stops and gives “Some services stop automatically if they are not in use” message.
