Change Personal Hotspot Network Name SSID in iOS 5 Without iTunes
Change Personal Hotspot Network Name SSID in iOS 5 Without iTunes
Prior to iOS 5, changing the SSID for Personal Hotspot required iTunes. Starting with iOS 5 Apple modified how the iPhone can be managed with features like over-the-air updates and syncing without the need of iTunes.
The Personal Hotspot network name (SSID) is taken from the name of the iPhone, for example “Bo Jackson’s iPhone 4″ will also be the name of the Personal Hotspot network. The side benefit of this is that the SSID of your Personal Hotspot can now be changed without iTunes.
To change Personal Hotspot SSID in iOS 5 navigate to:
Settings > General > About > Name > Change this value to desired WiFi Network Name / SSID
