iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch WiFi Scanner Almost Ready
iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch WiFi Scanner Almost Ready
Our goal of having a client for all major operating systems for our Cloud WLAN Security service is on track.
We are very close to releasing an iOS 4.2.1 app. With an iOS version and a battery powered device with 3G connecti so many WiFi security, survey, and vulnerability assessment services can be offered using the manager at http://manage.wlancontroller.com.
One use case scenario we are looking at offering is performing a WIFi site survey using multiple iPads that have 3G connectivity. Place these iPads in select locations on a floor and let the manager/WNMS compute proper RF coverage and how many access points will be needed based on results from scanning (no more walking around!!!).
WLANController.com iOS Client Testers Wanted
Only room for 10 more testers. First come, first serve!
If you are interested in becoming a tester follow us at @wlanbook and send an email to support@accessagility.com with your iOS device UDID. We have only conducted internal testing on iOS 4.2.1 devices and AT&T iPhones.
What is a UDID and why do we need it?
Each iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch has a Unique Device Identifier (UDID), which is a sequence of 40 letters and numbers that is specific to your device. Because Apple has banned WiFi scanning apps from the App Store our app must be distributed using “Ad-Hoc” mode which requires us to include your UDID in something called a “provisioning profile” that will be sent to you with the application binary (WLANControllerClient.app). You will then use iTunes to install/sync the app to your iOS device. This way you will NOT need to jailbreak device.
You can use a free app from the iPhone App Store called UDID Sender to email this number to us along with your Twitter username.
