MacPerf to WiFiPerf Speed Testing
MacPerf to WiFiPerf Testing Results
Test Hardware
- MacBook Air 2011 with Ethernet USB Adapter (Lion)
- Mac Mini Server 2010 (Snow Leopard)
- iPhone 4 (iOS 5)
Test Software
- WiFiPerf is a bandwidth performance measurement app for iOS. The app can operate as a client and/or server. WiFiPerf can be used for iOS-to-iOS testing or iOS-to-Mac OS testing. WiFiPerf should work with other operating systems that support iPerf3 but has only been tested with iPerf3 for Mac OS.
- MacPerf (coming soon to Mac App Store) is a Mac OS app that is compatible with WiFiPerf. The app can also be used for Mac OS-to-Mac OS testing and iOS-to-Mac OS testing.
Below are three test scenarios and results using MacPerf (Mac OS iPerf3 client/server) and WiFiPerf (iOS iPerf3 client / server). Production office wired and wireless network was used so results are not 100% accurate but most likely close to a controlled lab environment. These tests were not performance measurement tests but intended to show interoperability between MacPerf and WiFiPerf.
