CACE Technologies, maker of AirPcap an 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN packet capture adapter has been acquired by Riverbed. AirPcap can capture full 802.11 data, management, and control frames that can be viewed in Wireshark thereby providing in-depth protocol dissection and analysis capabilities.
CACE also markets high end wired side packet capture products. Both CACE’s and Riverbed’s products that sit at the edge of the network and optimize or analyze traffic. Adding CACE’s technology into Rivered boxes makes sense. See below for where two vendors place their equipment.
